French Riviera Road Trip Day 2 – Nice to Cannes
After breakfast, jump in your car rental French Riviera and drive out of town for 30 minutes to the pretty little hilltop down of Saint Paul de Vence. Take some time to wander through before stopping in any one of the excellent bistros. Hit the road again in the early afternoon and 45 minutes later, you’ll be driving into the world-famous Cannes, an iconic seaside town which is home to the annual film festival.
When you arrive, check into the Five Seas, a boutique hotel just moments away from La Croisette and the beach. With exclusive access to a private beach, an onsite spa, a spectacular rooftop terrace with a pool and spacious rooms, the hotel doesn’t disappoint.
In the late afternoon, wander around the narrow, cobbled streets of Le Suquet and the Old Port area. Pop your head into the any number of the boutique shops or stop for a café and people watch. Down along La Croisette is the perfect place to watch the sun setting.
Nice isn’t short of excellent restaurants. For something simple, but always good, try Bistrot Gourmand. The menu is seasonal, and changes often, but always has excellent seafood dishes and specials like roasted turbot. For a lively end to the night, head to one of the bars on Commandant Andre, a favorite spot for locals.
